Completed in 2024, this project in Metaline Falls, Washington enhances both the functionality and beauty of the Pend Oreille River access area. Located at the head of a scenic walking path, the improvements include a Cobblestone Redi-Rock retaining wall to create elevated parking, along with a river viewing platform that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding cliffs and waterway.
Project Intent
This project was designed to maximize parking capacity at a popular outdoor destination while improving the visitor experience. The retaining wall allows for tiered parking areas both in front of and above the wall, optimizing space for vehicles without impacting the natural environment. The paved walking path then guides visitors directly to the newly constructed river viewing deck, complete with safety railing and built-in seating, providing the perfect place to take in the dramatic scenery—or launch a kayak or canoe from the nearby inlet.
